Oliver (Bob) Waycaster, 81, of Quitman, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 24, 1936 in Kingsport, Tennessee to the late Oscar and Mattie Benfield Waycaster and has been a resident of this area since 2009. Mr. Waycaster was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired as the Maintenance Supervisor with Bear Creek Inc. in Ormond Beach, Florida. He had been actively involved with the American Legion and the VFW and he enjoyed salt water fishing. He was a member of Ousley Baptist Church where he served in the nursing home ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Waycaster of Quitman; a daughter, Rhonda Stevens of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons, Phillip Waycaster of Huntington, West Virginia, and Mark Waycaster of Durham, North Carolina; three step-sons, Bill Moore (Michelle) of Tampa, Florida, Mike Moore of Quitman, and Bobby Moore (Kat) of Stage Coach, Nevada; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and one sister.
Services for Oliver (Bob) Waycaster will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Ousley Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. The burial will follow in the Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, August 31, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
