Olin Harrell "Ollie" Godwin

Olin Harrell Godwin, 80, of Hahira was born in Quitman on August 17, 1933 to the late Willie Pearson and Nora Hallie Wheeler Godwin and departed this life on Saturday, December 28, 2013 to be with his eternal Savior, Jesus Christ. He is a longtime member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. He was known as "Ollie" to many and enjoyed watching Georgia football, fish fry's and family time. He loved the outdoors, a passion he shared with his sons. "Uncle Ollie" as he was affectionately called by his nieces and nephews, loved to tease his friends and family. He loved them all and enjoyed spending time with them.

Olin was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from civil service at Moody Air Force having served as Chief of Supply and later retired from South Georgia Plumbing where he worked along side with his sons.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Mike and Jayne Godwin of Valdosta, Greg and Tammy Godwin of Hahira, his grandchildren, Matt and Jessica Marie Godwin of Dublin, Brit Gay, Anna Godwin and Sarah Godwin all of Valdosta, two great grandchildren, Chloe Gay of Valdosta and Landon Godwin of Dublin, his brother and sister in law, Lester and Jeanne Godwin of Lawrenceville, GA, sisters and brothers in law, Carolyn Bass, Norma and Tom Cook, sister in law, Faye Ann Godwin all of Jasper, FL, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jess Capps, a brother, Willard Godwin and a brother in law, John Bass.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Fl. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
