Odessa Herndon Jordan

Odessa Herndon Jordan, 87, of Valdosta passed away May 20, 2016, at the Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy battle of declining health. Born in Echols County November 2, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Linnie Pearl Lightsey Herndon and Albert M. Herndon. Her first job was working as an operator for Southern Bell. She soon started work as a seamstress for Levi Strauss and retired after over 30 years of service. After her retirement from Levis, she worked for several years at Walmart as a greeter and then at the Country Inn & Suites. Mrs. Jordan was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Walker R. Jr. & Ann Jordan, and James A. & Barbara Jordan all of Valdosta; two daughters and a son in law, Alice Howell, Palm Coast, FL, and Glenise F. & John Roach, Alpharetta, GA; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Albert H. Herndon (Dolly), Valdosta, Rev. Glenn E. Herndon (Pat), Stone Mountain, GA; one sister, Linda A. Ramirez (Juan), Albuquerque, NM, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walker R. Jordan, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 in the chapel of Caron McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 PM on Sunday at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
