Norman “Walter” Eunice Jr, 68 of Valdosta passed away peacefully, January 6, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center, following a brief illness, due to complications of pneumonia. He was born on August 2, 1956, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Norman Walter, Sr. and Willie Pearl (Fountain) Eunice. He attended Lowndes County Schools, served in the Naval Reserves, and worked for Lowndes Roofing for numerous years. Walter and wife Peggy enjoyed camping and boating on the Suwanee and Santa Fe River. After his career as a roofer, he and Peggy worked for Bennie Whitehead Trucking Company as partner truck drivers, enjoying trucking across the USA. The greatest joy in his life was spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Walter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Evelyn (“Peggy”) Margaret Eunice. He was a step-up dad to four children Cathy (Danny) Smith of Douglas, GA, Matt (Sheila) Rogers of Homerville, GA, Vicky (Wesley) Henderson of Waynesboro, GA, and Mark Rogers and Angie Stone of Oxford, FL. His sisters are Carolyn Crite (deceased), Barabra (Tommy) Waldron of Quitman, GA, Jewell Elizebeth Bryant, and a very special niece Teri Brant of Quitman, GA, as well as his favorite aunt Lethea Moore of Valdosta, GA. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Roxanne (Bill-deceased) Hare of Lake Park, GA and Lorraine Okuma of Valdosta, GA.
His beloved step-up grandchildren are Megan (Cole) Hendley, Erica Gaskins, Haley (Zach) Ryals, Cheyenne Henderson, Tina (Seth) Broome, Shelby Henderson, Maci Rogers, Ethan Rogers, Kayleigh Rogers, Kearston Gaskins, and Griffin Gaskins. A special mention Kace Croft, Haley (Wil) Ruley, Matthew (Taylor) Tullis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life for Walter will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 18th at residence, 413 East Johnson Street, Quitman, GA. Because of his love for children, in lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or any children organization of your choice.
