Nora Elbon Nelson

Nora Elbon Nelson, 89, of Hahira died Monday, July 4, 2016 at 1:00 a. m. at her daughter's residence in Apopka, FL. She was born on November 19, 1926 in Pinellas County, FL to the late William and Nora Leah Pittman Elbon. Mrs. Nelson was a retired manager from Woolworth's Department Store in Valdosta, and Pompano Beach, Fl. She was a member of Hahira First Baptist Church. Mrs. Nelson was a devoted wife, mother and spiritual matriarch of the family, a very humble lady that loved peace and harmony.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Safier of Apopka, FL, son and daughter in law, Russell and DeeDee Nelson of Hahira, daughter and son in law, Barbara and Bill Best of Warner Robins, son Laurence Nelson of Hahira, step daughter and step son in law, Sherry and James Griffith of Warner Robins, grandchildren, Teresa Myerscough, Wade Hamilton, Lance Hamilton, Jordan Nelson Hamilton, Amy Orr, Amanda Josey and Chandler Nelson; step grandchildren, Jimmy Griffith, Jaime Griffith and Robert Griffith, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty five years, Marion Carroll (M. C.) Nelson, her grandson, Joey Myerscough and her son in law Michael Safier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at ten a. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on July 7, (Thursday) from five until seven p. m. at Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira, Ga.
