Nita Mae Weeks, 92, of Valdosta passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Crestwood Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Valdosta, GA, on October 30, 1925 to the late Corley and Sallie Jane Brantley. Nita Mae was a member of Mr. Zion United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, and influenced many children over the years. She loved to sing and was a member of the choir, always enjoying choir practice. She led the singing for many years. She raised her family, was a devoted wife, married for 56 years to her late husband Frank Weeks, and was faithful to her church. She loved working with her flowers in her garden, and putting up vegetables from the garden she and Frank planted. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Pruitt Health Services and Crestwood Nursing Home.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Peavy (Wyndall); Jane Rudd (George); Donna Carney (John) all of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Allen Peavy, Bryan Peavy (Andrea), Jennifer Rudd, Daniel Carney, Dexter Carney, Angel Carney, Stacy Zebley, and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Weeks in addition to her parents and husband was preceded in death 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, April 23, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Mays and Mr. John Carney officiating.
