Nick Purvis, 14, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence. Born in Valdosta on February 21, 2000, he has lived here all of his life. Nick was a freshman at Lowndes High School. A truly giving person, he was kind, gentle and generous. Nick was always willing to help others and skilled at figuring out challenges. He was not impulsive, was disciplined in many ways, very creative and an avid computer gamer. Nick was also considering becoming a veterinary assistant.
Survivors include his mother and step father, Rachel & Bryan Cox, of Valdosta; his father, Donnie Purvis of Homerville; a sister, Alannah Clements of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Justin Purvis of Homerville and Ben Cox of Lake Park. Also surviving are his grandparents, Nancy Purvis of Nichols, Madelyn & Wilbur VanderHuel of Rock Valley, IA and Mary Cox of Chillicothe, IL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service for Nick will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Benny Olliff will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
