Mrs. Nellie Sue Murphy, 62, forty year resident of Valdosta, died on Monday, February 28, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on October 9, 1942 in McRae, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leila Greene Gay. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Leroy David Murphy of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Joseph Paquet of Lakeland, GA, Falecia and Terry Singletary of Clyattville; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Johnny and Shawn Murphy of Portland, WA, Charles Murphy of Plant City, FL, Edgar Murphy of Clyattville; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby Gay and Earl Dyal of Winter Garden, FL, Lois Ashley Towns of McRae; and a brother, Archie Gay of Tampa, FL.

The funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Sue Murphy will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
