Nell Pollock

Nell Pollock, 81, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. Born on September 4, 1926, in Bainbridge to the late L.C. & Estell Ward Smith, she had lived in this area for the past 32 years. Mrs. Pollock was a homemaker but also had worked for McCrory’s for 35 years. She taught Sunday School for over 65 years, most recently at her church, Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Pollock loved flowers and loved working in her yard.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Lamar Pollock, of Valdosta, two brothers and sisters in law, Gerald & Ruth Smith, of Albany, and Rex & Ann Smith of Barney; her mother in law, Georgia Pollock, of Valdosta; three sisters in law and their husbands, Ann & Chester Brooks, Loraine & James Folsom, all of Valdosta and Juanita & Ted Sauls, Sr., of Clyattville; a brother in law and his wife, Eugene & Debra Pollock, of Valdosta; and a sister in law, Ruby Smith of Macon; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Smith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pollock will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Ernie Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Benevolence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
