Nell P. Ussery, 85, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 06, 2013 at Presbyterian Home following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 7, 1928 in Lumber City, Georgia to the late L.A. and Fanny Laura Pace. She has been a resident of this area since 1971 and was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. Mrs. Nell was an avid gardener and the world's greatest grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Paul Garschagen of Quitman and Sandy and Ronny Staten of Kite, Georgia; three grandchildren, Adam Garschagen of Valdosta, Sarah Murray of Macon and Holly and Vern Smith of Surrency, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, Auden Murray, Skylar Murray, Chance Murray, Sadie Smith, and Harmony Zora Smith; two sisters, Ann Albright of Orlando, Florida and Edith Long of Montgomery, Alabama; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lucas Ussery.
A private family service will be held at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens on Sunday, December 8, 2013. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane
