Neil H. Decima, 79, of Valdosta, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
He was born November 28, 1933 in Clairton, PA, a son of the late Bruno V. and Mary Hughes Decima. He graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1961 and taught school in the Christina School District, Newark, DE. Mr. Decima had been a volunteer at South Georgia Medical Center as a courtesy cart driver at the cancer center. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved all V.S.U. sports; he also enjoyed playing golf and his canine friend Willie.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Gail L. Decima of Valdosta; one brother, Earl Decima and wife Patty of McKeesport, PA; two sisters, Gail Tullius and husband Charles of Elizabeth, PA, Marian Post and husband Bill of Salem, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Decima will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
