Neal Allen Hagood

Neal Allen Hagood, 54, of Valdosta died on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on April 7, 1957 to the late Ardell and Pauline Elliott Hagood and has been a resident of this area his whole life. He was retired from the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of New Harvest United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and his active participation in the monthly supper club.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Vickie Hagood of Valdosta; a step-daughter, Michelle Barnes of Valdosta; a step-son and his wife, Jeff and Ashley Barnes of Kenbridge, Virginia; a step-grandson, Ryan Barnes also of Kenbridge, Virginia; a sister, Martha Bailey of Crestview, Florida and two brothers, Johnny Hagood of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Clay Hagood of Nashville, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Neal Allen Hagood will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Hauser officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
