Natalie J. Gjertsen

Natalie J. Gjertsen, 78, of Valdosta, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Our Gracious LORD gives and He takes away. Natalie's life began on June 3, 1936 in Patterson, NJ. She lived there and in Brooklyn, NY, where she grew up and she went to school and College in NYC. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, beginning in Brooklyn and continuing to Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta, where she was a member until the time of her death. In 1956 she met her best friend and husband to be, H.G. (Gil) Gjertsen. She was married in 1958 and was a devoted mother to five children.
Her life was a challenging one, moving with children and establishing residences 12 individual times in eight different states over her almost 60 years of marriage. She was loved and admired everywhere she went as a true lady. She will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta. The Rev. Dr. Dave Johnson will officiate. The burial of the cremains will follow in the Church's Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta, The Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
