Naomi Jeanne Stevens Root

Naomi Jeanne Stevens Root, 84, of Dasher, died at her home on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Born in Wheeling, WV, she was the daughter of the late George Franklin Stevens and Isabelle Kent Stevens Chaney. Formerly of Middletown, Ohio, Mrs. Root was a retired Registered Nurse, director of nursing, and an administrator of long term care and rehab facilities. She was a former member of the Georgia Women's Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the American Colonial Union and Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Valdosta.

Survivors are her husband, Harold Arthur Root of Dasher; daughter and son in law, Karen Lynne Root and Steven Savitsky of Valdosta; son and daughter in law, Eric Kent and Marian Root of South Euclid, Ohio; grandson, Matthew Root Savitsky of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a niece and her husband, Sandra and Leonard Kidd of Scio, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Root on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Reverend Mac Weaver and Reverend Ron Hatchett will officiate.
