Nancy Lynn Storey Barrett

Nancy Lynn Storey Barrett, 74, of Valdosta died on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Langdale Hospice House. An Atlanta native, born on October 8, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Dorothy Storey. She graduated from Murphy High School in east Atlanta, and received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University in May of 1970. In August of 1973 Nancy received her Master of Arts for Teachers. She taught English in the Atlanta high schools, had a love for books, was gifted with a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She attended Trinity Presbyterian, had a strong faith and belief in God and was an amazing Mother.
Survivors are her daughters, Elizabeth Ansley Sparks (Brian) of Rhode Island, Paran Kathleen Davis of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Gabrielle Sparks, Aiden Sparks, Zachary Sparks, Amelia Sparks, Gracie Howard; a brother and sister-in-law, Martin Storey (Barbara) of South Carolina. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Eugene Barrett, Jr.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Frank Kilgard will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A committal of cremains will follow the services at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
