Nancy Herring

Nancy Herring, 86, passed away on July 21, 2017, peacefully at her home. Nancy was born in Valdosta, Georgia, to Louise and Everett Herring.

Nancy is survived by her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families, Carol Herring, Michael and Lisa Herring, David Herring (and Dee Pence), Tracy and Jim MacNaughton, Amy Owens, Tyler Herring, Amanda Herring, Alex Herring, Kaitlyn Herring, Justin Owens, Liam MacNaughton, Natalie MacNaughton, and Owen MacNaughton, as well as many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Herring, of The Villages, Florida.

Nancy joined the Civil Air Patrol as a teenager. She graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught school and lived in Palatka, Florida and Warrenton, North Carolina before working for the U.S. Postal Service in Warrenton and retiring from the postal service in the early 90's. She lived in Valdosta, Georgia, since 1994, and split her time between Valdosta and St. Simon's Island, Georgia. Nancy spent her entire life as an artist and a compassionate, generous soul. She appreciated the beauty in life, and her quick wit and charm gained her many friends.

She was a beloved daughter, aunt, great-aunt, sister, and a special friend to many, and will be greatly missed, but always remembered.

A memorial service will be held at McLane Funeral Home chapel in Valdosta on Friday, July 28th at 2pm.
