Myrtle Griffis Johnson, 91, of Quitman, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. She was born in Hamilton County, FL on February 3, 1931 to the late Sam and Katherine Cribbs Griffis. She was married for 52 years to Remer Johnson, Sr. and was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, dancing, traveling, and fishing. She was a member at Center Cross Community Church in Valdosta.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Aline (Bobby) Mullis, of Troupeville, Marion LaVerne (Harry) Crumley, of Troupeville, and Wanda Jean (Danny) Brevig, of Valdosta; her sons and daughters-in-law, Remer Young (JoAnn) Johnson, Jr., of Troupeville, Raymond (Reta) Johnson, of Quitman, and Gerald (Renacca) Johnson, of Troupeville; brother and sister-in-law, Willie (Jessie) Griffis, of Sanderson, FL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; and thirty-one great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Remer Johnson, Sr., four brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Buck Crumley and Deacon Danny Brevig officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2pm. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
