Myrtle Graham Spencer, 91, of Sumter, SC, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Valdosta, GA. She was born July 4, 1919 to the late Samuel Gary and Plasseda Graham of Pinewood, SC.
A homemaker, Myrtle is known for love of church, family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard, was an avid reader and participated in many community and civic activities. She was active in her church and was a charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Following the death of her husband, Floyd W. “Bay” Spencer in 1999, she moved to Valdosta, GA. She lived with her daughter and family until her death.
Affectionately known as “Granny Tee” to her family, she is survived by her daughter, Floye Spencer Luke and husband, Michael of Valdosta, GA, six grandchildren, Todd Luke (Paulette) of Athens, GA, Spencer Luke (Carla) of Savannah, GA, Sarah L. Osborne (Steve) of Nashville, GA, Renee L. Jordan of Pensacola, FL, Jennifer L. Daniel (Todd) of Valdosta, GA, Jackson Luke of Orlando, FL and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Joseph D. Graham and Sam Graham and her sister, Ethel Graham.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at eleven a. m. at Evergreen Cemetery Park in Sumter, SC with Reverend J. Robert Huggins officiating.
