Myrtie Prescott Cummings

Myrtie (Myrt) Prescott Cummings, 90, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Holmes County Florida on December 11, 1920 to the late William and Nancy Huggins Prescott and has been a resident of this area since 1983. She was a retired Special Education Attendant from the Brevard County School System in Florida and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Clora Mae Fussell of Valdosta; three special nephews and their spouses, George, Jr. and Bobbie Fussell, Markey Fussell, and Gerald (DeDe) and Gail Fussell all of Valdosta; three special great nephews and their spouses, Stryde and Cathy Jones of Valdosta, Trey and Sarah Jones of Statenville, and Jason and Patti Jones of Valdosta; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a special friend, Lucy Paffhausen of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fulton Cummings.

Services for Myrtie Cummings will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Hardee officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
