Muriel Dees

Muriel Dees, 80 of Valdosta, died on Monday, October 31, 2005 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born on July 2, 1925 in Doerun, she was the daughter of the late James S. and Ethel Era Clark Barksdale and the widow of Arley Dees. Mrs. Dees was a homemaker and a member of Benevolence Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kelly and Dianne Dees and Robert Arley “Bobby” Dees all of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Evans and Bobby Hall of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Layton (Robin) Dees of Twin Lakes, Tracy E. (Joe) Bracewell of Live Oak, FL, Brent (Marie) Evans of Valdosta, Haley Hall of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Emmalee Bracewell, Gracie McCain and John Griffin; two sisters, Maxine McClure of Dade City, FL, Nadine Strickland of Quitman; one brother, Buddy Barksdale of Dade City, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Paulk officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice Healthcare, 1001 Williams Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
