MSGT (USAF Ret.), James E. Foster, 79, of Valdosta passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on August 4, 1935 in Scottdale, Georgia to the late Willie and Maudie Johnson Foster. Mr. Foster was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and on several committees. He had a ministry of helping and serving those in need. He retired after twenty three years of service in the United States Air Force including a tour in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Foster of Valdosta, three children and their spouses, Bryan and Robin Foster of Macon, Theresa and Gary Cothren of Lake Butler, FL, David and Dana Foster of Sanibel, FL; grandchildren, Summerly (Eric) Humphries, Kyndal Foster, Alden Foster, Brittany (Joel) Combs, Colby Cothren, Reed Cothren, Marit Foster and Jase Foster, great grandchildren, Leighton Humphries, Callie Combs, Kenley Combs, his brother, Norman Foster of Griffin, GA and his sister and brother in law, Patricia and Jack Cole of Melbourne, FL. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Seth Foster, a brother, Richard Foster and a sister, Diane Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Greenwood Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes, Rev. Chip Fuller and Mr. Donald Summers officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
