Mrs. Vivian McIlvaine Brannen, 83 of Valdosta, died on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on April 23, 1923 in Woodbury, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Reba (Jesse) McIlvaine. She graduated from Western High School, Washington, DC in 1940 and from the University of Maryland Nursing School in 1945. Vivian Martiel McIlvaine married Joseph Harrison Brannen on September 12, 1946 in Washington, DC and moved to Valdosta in 1953. Mrs. Brannen was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was one of the original founders of Valwood School.
Mrs. Brannen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Joseph Harrison Brannen of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Martiel and Eric Wallace of Boca Raton, FL; sons and daughter-in-law, William McIlvaine (Rusty) and Rosemary Brannen of Valdosta, Joseph Clem Brannen of Tucker; grandchildren, Benjamin McIlvaine Brannen of Valdosta, Mary Rebecca Brannen Karlowicz of Atlanta, Anders Erickson Wallace and Kierston Vivian Wallace both of Boca Raton.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. A. Jason Shirah and Reverend Thomas Mason, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
