Mona Rae Gard, 75, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on July 10, 1944 in California to Ruth Rodberg Field. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an animal advocate and enjoyed collecting beanie babies. She loved her 3 jack russells and her cat.
She is survived by her son Scott (Cynthia) Gard, of Naylor, her daughter Melissa (Allen) Meeks, of Valdosta, her grandchildren, Mikey Meeks, Alex (Jasmine) Meeks, Sara Rae Gard, Victoria Strickland, and Rebecca (Coty) Pendergrass, her great grandchildren, Tristen Meeks, Camden Meeks, Lemon Meeks, Lola Meeks, Lyla Strickland, Anzley Strickland, and A.J. Strickland. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Harold Gard, her mother, and a sister Madeline Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Shiloh Cemetery with Mr. Carl Howard officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Valdosta Lowndes County, 1740 W.
