Molcie Nell Clanton

Molcie Nell Clanton, 77, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at her residence after a period of declining health. She was born in Cook County to the late Henry & Lena Barker. After graduating from Cook County High School, Mrs. Clanton came to Valdosta and worked as a phone operator for several years. Though she and her future husband Ronald graduated from high school together, they did not begin a relationship until several years later. After their marriage in 1963, she followed him as a faithful military spouse as he moved between U.S. Army bases from Germany to Hawaii. Following his retirement, they moved back to Valdosta where she worked for many years at the Base Exchange at Moody Air Force Base in Human Resources. Mrs. Clanton was a crafty person, well known for her excellent cooking and her skills in sewing and working in her yard and garden. She loved her family, and was especially close with her 7 grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ronald Clanton of Valdosta; a daughter and son in law, Vicki & Frank Davidson of Valdosta; a sister Eloise Brown of Macon; grandchildren, Mandi Davidson of Valdosta, Jonathan Davidson of Gainesville, Will Davidson, Garrett Clanton, Marrissa Clanton, Lindsey Clanton and Jacob Clanton, all of Valdosta. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Arwen Clanton, and Remy Clanton, both of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clanton is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Clanton and eight brothers and sisters.
A funeral service for Mrs. Clanton will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Jim Schappaugh will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
