Milton Ruby Shepard, 81, of Lake Park, passed away on December 19, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 11, 1931 to the Late Eddie and Ada Irving Shepard. He retired in the late 80's from the Transportation Department for the State of Florida. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Shephard was a member of Loch Laurel Baptist Church and was a retired minister. He loved to tinker with lawn mowers and old trucks when he was able.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gary Gosser of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Betty and Robert Long of Lake Park, Barbara Johnson of Lake Park, Becky Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Dorothy Mitchell of Newport, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnet and Irene Shepard of Indiana, Eddie and Chestina Shepard of Russell Springs, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Corbett Shepard; a son, Kenny Shepard; a brother, Garnet Shepard and two sisters, Matrie Holtzclaw and Judy Lane Coe.
A graveside service for Milton Shepard will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Carter Cemetery in Echols County with Rev. Milton Sellars officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McLane Funeral Services to help with the funeral expenses.
