Mildred V. (Mrs. A.C. ) Wisenbaker, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born near LaFayette-Trion in Walker County, Georgia, on September 30, 1911, she was the oldest of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Veatch, Sr. Raised in Milledgeville, she was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and she did her post graduate work at Duke University. She taught school in Albany, Parrott, Washington and Union Point. In 1952 she began a 30 year teaching career in Valdosta. She taught English at Valdosta Jr. High School and taught Latin at Valdosta High School for several years before her retirement. Mrs. Wisenbaker was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Annie Mae Walker Sunday School Class and Circle. She was a member of the Georgia Association of Educators, the retired Georgia Teachers Association, the American Association of University Women, and the Wymodausis Club. Mildred Wisenbaker loved her family, her students and her many friends. She inspired her sons to go out into the world and make it a better place. She motivated her students and expected great things from all of them. It gave her much joy to see her former students all around town and she especially enjoyed attending the annual Parrot reunion. Her youthful appearance and vigor in her advanced years evoked amazement in all who encountered her. Her smile encouraged everyone she met to embrace life with humor and a positive outlook.
