Mildred Strawder Smith, 81, of Cocoa, FL and formerly of Hahira/Ray City area died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, FL. She was born on December 22, 1932 in Berrien County, GA to the late Charlie and Cora Bradford Strawder. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, a member of Clearlake Baptist Church in Cocoa, FL and a former member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA.

She is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Virginia Keckley of Hahira, Margaret and Phil Asche of Kissimmee, FL, one son and daughter in law, Charles and Marcia Smith of Lobeville, TN, six grandchildren, Michael O'Neal (Bonnie), Miranda Asche Ferber (Mike), Jennifer Asche, Christopher Smith (Jennifer), Nikki Keckley and Destiny Smith, five great grandchildren, Sidney Smith, Harley O'Neal, Claudia O'Neal, Gage O'Neal and Brenden O'Neal, her "adopted" children, Patricia Dianne (spelled with two n's) Atkins Jenkins and Allan Cowart (aka A. C.), her "adopted" grandchildren, Candace Cook and Adam Clark, her brothers and sisters in law, Loran Strawder of Germany, June and LaDon Strawder of Ray City, Bobby and Sherrill Strawder of Lake City, FL, Hazel Strawder of Hahira and Doris Strawder of Crescent City, FL, her step grandchildren, Jimmy Kellenberger and Samantha Kellenberger. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert P. Smith, her son, Carroll Smith, two brothers, Charlie Mack Strawder and Mark Strawder and one sister in law, Paula Strawder.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 at three p. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Mr. Jackie Bradford and Mr. John Beville officiating. Burial will follow at Gaskins Cemetery, Ray City, GA The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Clearlake Baptist Church in Cocoa, FL. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
