Mildred (Mema) Corbett Mclane

November 23, 1918 — April 5, 2009

Mildred (Mema) Corbett McLane, 90, lifelong resident of Lake Park, died on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Langdale Hospice House following a long illness. Daughter of the late Guy D. and Dora Augusta Watts Corbett, she was born in Lake Park on November 23, 1918. Mildred barely survived after being born prematurely weighing only 2 � pounds. But the Lord had a plan for Mildred�s life as her daddy wrapped her in an old woolen sweater and rocked her by the fire while she grew. She married Ralph C. (Pa) McLane on December 22, 1938, sharing 56 years of marriage until his death in 1994. Mildred worked at the Lake Park Bank for a number of years before beginning a 21 year career with First State Bank in Valdosta. She served on the Advisory Board for First State Bank and retired as Head Teller in 1976. She was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church where she was active in the Pathfinders Group, the Gibraltar Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. Mrs. McLane was also a lifelong member of Lake Park Christian Church and a charter member of the Lake Park Historical Society. She loved her Lord, her family and she expressed great love and respect for all she met.

Survivors are her daughter and son in law, Susie and David Pike of Lake Park, grandchildren, David (Bo) and Sena Pike of Lakeland, Mandy and Curtis Avera of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Eva Marie Pike, J.D. Pike of Lakeland, Cayden Avera, Micah Avera of Valdosta; sister in law, Mary Corbett of Lake Park; many well loved nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, J.C. Corbett and Guy Corbett, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lake Park United Methodist Church. Pastor Mickey Corbett, Reverend William Warnock and Zack Corbett will officiate. Committal services and burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 � 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia or to Lake Park United Methodist Church.
