Mildred Ann Godwin Rabon, 89, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Born in Bainbridge on February 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Dale Glenn Godwin and widow of the late Frederick Winston Rabon. Mrs. Rabon enjoyed family, music and travel. She was a charter member of the Golden Strummers and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Mrs. Rabon taught school for many years and had retired from the Lowndes County School System.
Survivors are her daughters and sons in law, Ann and Warren Johnson of Live Oak, Florida, Gayle and Ron Miller of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Debbie Beasley of Valdosta; grandchildren, Stacy and Patrick Flanagan, Steven and Kara Miller, Lori and Jeff Broadaway, Thomas and Lacey Johnson, Daryn Beasley; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Charlie Scarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until service time.
