Mike A. Huff

Mike A. Huff, 89, of Valdosta, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Langdale Hospice House. Born on March 19, 1919 in Chula, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Lightfoot Huff. He was in the United States Air Force and served in World War II. Mr. Huff was self-employed as a building and painting contractor and was also a building inspector for Lake Park and Brooks County for 50 years. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and was the Chairman of the Deacons as well as the Chairman of the Building Committee. He loved fishing, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved his church.

He is survived by his wife, Aline J. Huff of Valdosta; daughters and son-in-law, Janice Osborne and Pat and Mark Orenstein, all of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Missy and Greg Oliver, Tracy and Walt Gill, Jodi and Sonny Schwab, Scott and Lynn Orenstein, Dee and Dale Eason, all of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Kaylan Gill, Kristen Gill, Cameron Gill, Will Branch, Walker and Jackson Schwab, Sara Katherine Eason, Patrick Eason, Austin Orenstein and Ally Orenstein; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and James Sirmans, Peggy Exum, all of Hahira; brother and sister-in-law, Omar (Pete) and Helen Huff of Melrose, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Melvin Osborne, two sisters and three brothers.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Graham and Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Huff will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 P.M. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
