Michael Lagioia

MICHAEL LAGIOIA, 85, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Fellowship Assisted Living.

He was born September 14, 1924 in Chicago, IL, a son of Frank and Catherine McCarthy Lagioia. Mr. Lagioia was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In 1957, he and his family moved to Valdosta and he worked as Plant Engineer for Crackin' Good Bakery Co. He retired early to enjoy golf and travelling.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Gisela Lagioia, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Susannah Lagioia of Valdosta; one daughter, Patricia Ann Lagioia of Valdosta; one granddaughter, Lindsay and husband Andrew Cooper of Hahira; three step-grandsons, Dusty and wife Cindy Statham of Tifton, Dr. Jess Rentz of Lake Park, and Jamey and wife Brooke Rentz of Valdosta; two great-granddaughters, Caroline Cooper and Anna Cate Cooper of Hahira; two step-great-granddaughters, Meri Alyce Statham of Tifton, and Riley Rentz of Lake Park; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Annamae and Chester Fuller of Chicago, IL, and Marilyn and Joseph Aquino of Franklin Lakes, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Messiah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Richard Pieplow officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Lagioia's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
