Michael Kent Wakefield

Michael Kent Wakefield, 56, of Valdosta died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on December 1, 1954 in Manhattan, Kansas, was insurance sales agent and had lived in Marietta, Georgia from 1984-2007. Mr. Wakefield was a member of the First Christian Church, was an accomplished musician and loved playing in the band. He was a fish hobbyist. Mr. Wakefield graduated from Baylor University in 1984 with a Bachelor's Degree.

Survivors include his daughter, Lacy Wakefield of Atlanta, a granddaughter, Kalina Gonzalez of Atlanta, his parents, Tommy and Nan Wakefield of Valdosta, two brothers and sisters in law, Barry Thomas and Amanda Wakefield of Ray City, Truett Lee and Sonya Wakefield of Daphne, Ala., four sisters and two brothers in law, Kim Elaine Clayton of Naples, Fla., Karen Kay and Dana Leach of Atlanta, Tonia Sue Studstill of Lake Park and Teresa Ann and Phillip Bishop of Jefferson, several nieces and nephews.
