Merlene Register Rykard Holton, 86, of Valdosta died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home. She was born on March 25, 1929 in Hahira to the late Staten Buren and Rhoda Stalvey Register. Mrs. Holton was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and the social gatherings at the Presbyterian Home. Mrs. Holton enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons in law; Brenda G. Humphrey of Valdosta, Linda R. and David Phelps of Hahira, Nancy R. and Joey Seabolt of Locust Grove, GA; her grandchildren, Meredith (Jonathan) Brasher, Joel (Casey) Humphrey, Matt (Katherine) Phelps, Adam Phelps, Joseph (Kari) Seabolt, Valerie (Jason) DeFoor and Samuel Seabolt; 12-great grandchildren; three stepsons and one stepdaughter in law, Roger Holton, Lonnie and Nancy Holton, Joey Holton all of Jacksonville, FL; 7- step grandchildren, 9-step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William F. Rykard and Walter J. Holton along with five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, June 11, 2015 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Seabolt officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 E.
