Merle Reddick

July 2, 1924 — August 10, 2015

Merle Reddick, 91, of Valdosta died on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Dothan, Alabama on July 2, 1924 to the late Rushie K. and Ella Ree Douglas Whitefield. Mrs. Reddick was a long-time bookkeeper for Carl Sessions Accounting Firm. Later, she worked along- side her husband with Reddick Motors and was the office manager. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Valdosta where she had served as the church treasurer and was a member of the Christian Home Builders Sunday school class. She was also actively involved with the United Methodist Women's Circle. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and an active Christian woman.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Buddy McDermid of Marietta, Georgia and Carol and Guy Widby of Valdosta; Lester and Beverly Parker of Lake Park; grandchildren, Christopher McDermid of Marietta, Andrew and Tiffany McDermid of Warner Robins, Gretchen and Will Fricks and Blake and Amber Cowart all of Valdosta, Emily Cowart of Atlanta, and Ryan Parker of Lake Park; great-grandchildren, Tyler Haynes McDermid, Stephen Andrew "Sam" McDermid, Mary Grace Fricks, Ellie Gray Cowart, and Easton Edward McDermid; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haynes Moses Reddick, and six sisters and a brother.

Services for Mrs. Merle Reddick will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Terry Hiers and Dr. Bob Moon officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
