Melvin Jackson Hammock, 58, of Live Oak, Florida, died at the Lake City, Florida VA Medical Center on Saturday, July 8, 2006 after a short illness. Born in Valdosta on June 3, 1948, he was the son of Frank J. Hammock and the late Marie Coody Hammock Aschenbrenner. Mr. Hammock served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a supervisor with a telephone cable installation company and he was a Methodist.
Survivors are his daughter, Tamela Freeman of Live Oak, three grandchildren, his father, Frank J. Hammock of Jacksonville, Florida, sisters and brothers in law, Joyce and “Red” Martin, Wanda and Phil Johnson, brother and sister in law, Doyle and Kimberly Hammock all of Live Oak.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Jerry Owens will officiate. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Hammock. Condolences may be conveyed online at mclanefuneralservices.com.
