Melba Baker, 86, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. She was born in Berrien County, GA, on June 24, 1934 to the late Roy and Ruby Lovett. As a woman who walked with the Lord most of her adult life, she knew the steady and gracious hand of God. It was his goodness that sustained her in the most difficult seasons. Her experience of God’s benevolent nature enabled her to give a Christ-resembling love to all, most notably, to her family. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her children, Pat and Tony Black, Gerry and Donna Baker, Danny and Debbie Baker, Stanley and Sharon Baker, Angie and Patrick Minarovich Sr., Delanie and Robert Bruce; a sister Faye McClellan; a brother LeRoy Lovett; 17 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur Baker, and a granddaughter Madonna Nix.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends before the service from 2-3pm. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
