Melanie Boone Mauldin

Melanie Boone Mauldin, 69, of Cornelia Georgia passed away peacefully at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville Georgia on Saturday, April 17, 2010. She was born on May 1, 1940 in Valdosta to the late Alton and Anna Regener Boone. Melanie grew up in Valdosta where she was an avid basketball and tennis player at Valdosta High School. She graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in medical technology and worked for South Georgia Medical Center and Grady Hospital in Atlanta as a medical technologist. Melanie was of the Methodist Faith.

Survivors include her husband, Whiteford Mauldin of Cornelia, Ga.; a brother, Sammy J. Boone of Valdosta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cherylene and Bo Miller and Alana and Bob Folsom all of Valdosta; three nephews and spouses, Rob and Deanna Folsom of Valdosta, Russ and Lana Folsom of Cummings, Ga., and Barry Boone of Lake Park; two nieces and spouse, Michelle and Jeff Moxley and Jennifer Miller all of Valdosta; three great-nieces and six great-nephews. Melanie was preceded in death by a sister, Donna B. Curtis.

A graveside service for Melanie Boone Mauldin will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Pastor Richard Pieplow officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, Ga. 38501.
