Maxwell C. Blanton, 82, of Valdosta died on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Langdale Hospice House following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on November 27, 1929 to the late Claude and Elle Robinson Blanton and has been a resident of the Valdosta area all his life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Bell South after 34 years of dedicated service. Mr. Blanton was an avid fisherman and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Olgia C. Blanton of Valdosta; a daughter, Sharon Blanton of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Rhonda Blanton of Adel; grandchildren and their spouses OS1(SW) Jacob and Mary Jones of Norfolk, Virginia, Jayden and Clay Sheffield of Gainesville, Georgia, Jared and Samantha Knowles of Texas and Garrett Blanton of Adel; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Blanchard; two nephews, Marcus and Wesley Blanchard all of Valdosta; former daughter-in-law, Paullette Collins Cagle of Gainesville, Georgia; step-children and their spouses, Susan and Jerry Bott of Jacksonville, Florida, Martha and Richard Eason of Shelbyville, Michigan and Jerry David and Nancy Jenkins of Live Oak, Florida.

A memorial service for Maxwell C. Blanton will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating.
