Maxine Purdy Lear

Maxine Purdy Lear, 94 of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Valdosta, GA, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2006 at St. Catherine Laboure` Manor in Jacksonville. Born on July 9, 1911 in Topeka, KS, she was the daughter of the late Max Archibald Purdy and Ora Mae Collins Purdy and devoted wife of the late Thomas Franklin Lear. Mrs. Lear was a graduate of Valdosta State College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Valdosta and of the Fideles Sunday School Class for many years. She served as the executive secretary for the Valdosta Chapter of the American Red Cross for twenty years.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha L. Taylor of Gainesville, FL; granddaughters, Ginny Towers of Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth Phillips of Eugene, OR, Kathleen Taylor of Austin, TX and three great granddaughters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman with Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed on the obituary page at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home
