Max T. Jacobs, 82, of Hahira, died on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at his home. Born in Christian Pass, FL on Aug. 24, 1937 to the late Albert & Myrtle Wilson Jacobs, he had lived in Hahira for the past 3 months. Max grew up in Bonifay, FL and joined the U.S. Army in the early 1950’s. During his Army career, he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was devoted to his career in the military. He retired in 1975 with many awards and decorations to include the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal with One Silver Star and the Bronze Star. After retirement from the Army, he returned to central Florida and lived in Ft. Meade for over 40 years. During this time, he worked in for the Polk County School Board of Education and the Florida Board of Corrections. Max was also very involved in AA in Ft. Meade and was a mentor to many other men in the program. The Jacob’s are members of First Baptist Church in Ft. Meade.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sandy Jacobs of Hahira; a daughter and son in law, Terrie & Pat Price of AZ; a grandson, Kyle Morrison of CA; a granddaughter, Amanda Morrison of FL; and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Velma Bennett, Frances Hartley and Nell Nevils and two brothers, Dean Jacobs and Jack Jacobs. He is preceded in death by a brother, Gene Jacobs and two sisters, Meryle Batten and Thelma Boswell.
Mr. Jacobs will be buried at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church AA Program, 650 S.
