Max F. Johns, Jr., 69, of Lake Park, died of a sudden illness on Monday, March 16, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Bradenton, Florida on January 22, 1940, Mr. Johns had made his home in Lowndes County for many years. He worked in construction with Reames and Son for 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Park.
Survivors are his wife, Joyce Granger Johns of Lake Park, son and daughter in law, Max F. III and Ginger Johns of Lake Park, daughters and son in law, Gidget Johns of Key West, Florida, Pilar and Kyle Hansley of Blackshear, stepsons, Greg Dayton of Bearington, Illinois, David Dayton of Tallahassee, Florida, his mother, Ruby M. Lightsey of Lake Park, brothers and sister in law, Johnny and Kathy Lightsey and David Lightsey of Lake Park, sister in law and brother in law Carol and Tom King of Franklin, nine grandchildren, and a special lifetime friend, Edward Barfield of Waycross.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the graveside at Kinsey Cemetery. Reverend Robert Dawson will officiate. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. McLane Lakewood Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Johns.
