Mavis Croft Copeland, 78, of Valdosta, died on Friday, April 7, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Born in Colquitt County, Georgia, on September 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Chester L. and Nina McCoy Croft. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors are her grandchildren, Laura and Mitch Cothron of Lake Park, John and Tonya Braswell of Valdosta, great grandchildren, Triston Kyle Braswell, Leacy Anne Cothron, Christopher John Braswell, Tripp Cothron all of Valdosta, brothers and sisters in law, Stanley and Cue Croft of Frostproof, Florida, Andy and Doris Croft of Nashville, Pat and Betty Croft of Morven, sister, Ruth Humphrey of Valdosta, sister in law, Dorothy Croft of Pavo, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny P. Copeland, daughter, Linda Shear and a brother, Milton Croft..
Services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Alton Hardee will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia or to the Gideons.
