Maudell Roland Rouse

Maudell Roland Rouse, 91, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Langdale Hospice House. Born on June 7, 1921 in Nashville, to the late George Calvin & Martha Price Roland, she had lived in this area for the past 60 years. Mrs. Rouse was a homemaker and had also worked for 20 years at Norge Village Laundromat, later known as Forest Park Laundromat. She had many skills born of necessity that provided for her family such as sewing and cooking. The matriarch of her family, she held a great love for all her family and was most comfortable when she was with them. Mrs. Roland held a deep faith and was a member of Forest Park Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Nell Bates, of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Johnnie & John Fisher of Jacksonville, FL, son and daughter in law, Jimmy & Dot McGee, daughter Donna Brogdon, and son and daughter in law Joey & Cora Rouse, all of Valdosta; two sisters, Mattiebell Rogers of Tifton and Louidell Mulligan of Leesburg, FL. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ann (Marty) Fugett, two sons in law, Thomas Eugene Bates and Steve Brogdon, and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rouse will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Bill Ward will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia- Langdale Hospice House.
