Mattie Lou "Lucy" George

Lucy George of Valdosta passed away January 1, 2021 at the age of 86. Lucy was born in Bonneau South Carolina on August 24th, 1934 to the late Sidney Shealy and Essie Shealy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Ruby Krill, Alice Stowers, and Lois Almers. Lucy is survived by her husband of 67 years Kenneth George and daughters Beth Cleveland (Frank), Alice Coats (Mike), Laura Kulp (Gordon), eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters; Frances Wyndham, Olene Jernigan, Sydney Lee, and Genele Kemmerlin; brothers, Charles Shealy, Jerry Shealy, and David Shealy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Lucy worked for Dr. Albert Davis as office manager for many years. She was an active member of Northside Baptist Church. Lucy enjoyed sewing and was quite the accomplished seamstress. She was a volunteer for the Valdosta Dance Theatre for many years and made costumes for their productions.
A family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in St. Stephen South Carolina. Dial Murray Funeral Home Monks Corner SC.
