MATTIE ELLA "JIMMIE" WILSON, 74, died unexpectedly Tuesday at home in Ocala. Born Jan. 12, 1934 in Live Oak, the daughter of the late Walter James and Mary Ann Sharpe Wilson, she moved to Ocala in 1945 and lived there the rest of her life, except for a few years in Gainesville. She attended Ocala schools and graduated from Central Florida Community College where she majored in art. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a talented artist who continued to paint despite poor health.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary B. Wilson, Lake Park, GA, Rosa Nell Canon, Lexington, KY, and Ruth Gilliam, Amarillo, TX; two brothers-in-law, Bradley Canon, Lexington, and Dean Gilliam, Amarillo; two nieces, Karen Canon, Albuquerque, NM, Laura Canon, Henderson, NV; and a nephew, Gavin Canon, Lexington.
There will be no services in Ocala, FL. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, in Statenville Cemetery, Statenville, GA, where her mother and six generations of her family are buried.
