Matt Mason

MATT MASON, 13, of Valdosta died Friday, September 30, 2005. He was born on July 11, 1992 in San Antonio, Texas to William Thomas Mason, III and Dafne Francisca de Jesus Gomez Mason and had lived in Valdosta for several years. Matt was a student at Valdosta Middle School where he was a member of the Valdosta Middle School Chess Club and played the oboe in the sixth grade band. He was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, played soccer and baseball. Matt played the violin in the youth orchestra at Valdosta State University and he was “Falk” a self proclaimed video halo master.

Survivors include his parents, William, III and Daphne Mason of Valdosta, one brother, Tommy Mason of Valdosta, maternal grandmother, Carmen Torres of San Antonio, TX., maternal grandfather, Miguel Gomez of Mexico, paternal grandfather, William T. Mason, Jr,. of Valdosta, maternal aunt, Elsa Gomez, maternal uncle, Eduardo Reyna, III, maternal cousins, Joshua Reyna, Leeland and Shrada Reyna, Elizabeth Reyna, Eduardo Reyna, IV all of San Antonio, TX., paternal uncle, John Mason, Sr. of Valdosta, paternal aunt, Brenda Mason-Bryant of Valdosta, paternal cousins, John Mason, Jr. of Valdosta, Genevieve Mason of Zephyrhills, Fla., paternal uncle, David Mason of New York, paternal aunt, Tonya Mason-Atwood of Ohio State, paternal cousins, Megan Mason of San Antonio, TX., Anna Mason and Jerri Mason both of New York and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 6pm, Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Crossroads Baptist Church with the Dr. Ken Alford, Rev. Stephen Carr and the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Matt will lie in state at the church from 5-6pm. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
