Maryann K. Martin

May 27, 1937 — June 16, 2023

Maryann K. Martin, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2023, at the age of 86 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on May 27, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. Maryann spent her early days in Camden County, GA, before attending Southern Georgia College. She married the love of her life, M. Bryant Martin, Jr. and they had a long happy marriage lasting for 60 years before his death in 2019. Maryann was also a committed Christian and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. As a woman of strong Christian faith, she put her Lord before all, and she shared her love of Jesus with all she knew, especially her husband and children, as she raised her family to love the Lord as well.


Maryann is survived by her three children, M. Bryant “Marty” Martin III, of Denver, CO, Alise Martin Shook (Howard), of Atlanta, GA and Bradley Keene Martin (Denise) of Amelia Island, FL and six grandchildren, Mary Taylor Martin, Zachery Hall Martin, Catherine Lee Shook, Mary Martin Shook, Maggie Keene Martin and Jack Bradley Martin; brother, Delam Keene (Vickie); sisters, Loretta Benton, and Cathy Treadnick; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Her parents, Adger Keene and Jane Grimes Keene, preceded her in death, as did her husband, M. Bryant Martin, Jr. and brother, Patrick Keene.


Maryann was an active member of the Valdosta Community for 55+ years. She loved playing bridge, was a master bridge player and instructor. Maryann taught kindergarten, loved gardening, was a talented cook and seamstress.


A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Monday, June 19, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Nijem officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic School at 800 Gornto Road Valdosta, GA 31602, or Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
