Mary "Tootsie" Kovalan

Mary "Tootsie" Kovalan, 86, of Langdale Place # 157, Valdosta, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Lake Haven Nursing Home. She was born on September 16, 1922 in Lowndes County to the late John Arthur and Bessie Thomas Walker. Mrs. Kovalan was a homemaker, a member of First Christian Church, the Garden Club, President of CWF, the PTA and a frequent volunteer of numerous organizations.

She is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Lila Kovalan-Tom and her husband, Henry Tom of Los Angeles, California and Susan Kovalan-Montgomery of Youngstown, Ohio, three grandchildren, John Bailey, Brittney Montgomery, and Benjamin Tom, one brother and sister in law, Fred and Waunee Walker of Valdosta, one niece, Linda Cullen and her husband, Pat, two nephews, John Walker and his wife, Diane, Fred Walker Jr. and his wife, Beverly. Mrs. Kovalan is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Michael Kovalan and one sister, Elizabeth.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at two p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Reverend J. Chris Michael officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p. m. until 1:30 p. m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
