Mary Kimbrough Allen Spivey, “Skimmer” to her loved ones, passed away November 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Thomasville on March 7, 1928 to the late Troy Holder and Hilda Perdeta House Kimbrough. She graduated from Thomasville High School and Birdwood Community College. In her early years she worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Warren Taylor in Thomasville. She eventually went to work for and later retired from the office of Clerk of Superior Court in Bibb County. Late in life she was known to her family as Gran. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Hahira United Methodist Church.
God blessed her with a loving son, Bill Allen, and daughter in law, Susan Colson Allen of Hahira; grandchildren, Michelle Allen McGreevy (Michael) of Greenville, SC, Troy Allen (Ana Maria) of Valdosta, and John David Allen of Hahira; great grandchildren, Olivia McGreevy, William McGreevy, Juliana Allen, and Sophia Allen; a sister, Barbara Kimbrough Wallace (Dempsey) of Dunwoody, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many close friends in addition to a very special friend and caregiver, Carrie Washington.
A graveside service for Mary Kimbrough Allen Spivey will be Sunday November 24, 2019 at 3 P.M. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville with Reverend Mike Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7 P.M. at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Hahira United Methodist Church at 208 N. Church Street Hahira, Ga 31632.
