Mary Kathryn Parrish

December 18, 1930 — November 9, 2016

Mary Kathryn Brady Parrish, 85, of Lake Park, left this world on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was known as Kathryn to her friends, Sis. Parrish to her church family, Aunt Cassie to her numerous nieces and nephews, and Nanny to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; regardless the name, she was beloved and will be sorely missed by all.
She was born December 18, 1930 in Adel, Georgia, the oldest of four children born to the late Elizabeth "Lizzie" Smithie and Alford Brady. She grew up in rural Cook County, and moved with her husband and young family to Valdosta in the early 1950's where she and her family started attending the Lee St. Church of God. She was a passionate and devoted Christian and remained a faithful member of the church as it moved to Forrest St., and later to its current location, Abundant Life Church of God. Her devotion to her faith, her church, and her family knew no end. She was a pillar of faith, and an impressive example of living by faith in God's word.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Charlie and Dianne Parrish of Lake Park, Katrina and Fred Whitmore of Lovett, Florida, Vickie and Johnny Nelms, of Lake Park, and Shawn and Teresa Parrish of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses Jenay and Clint Wortman, of Quitman, Hawk and Lisa Parrish of Lake Park, Kristoffer and Amber Moore of Lake Park, Justin and Kristyn Nelms of Moultrie, Katie and Kellen Bridges of Tifton, Amanda "Jennifer" and John Bradley of Wilson, NC, Ashley and Kenny Utecht of Lake Park, Will Parrish & Sam Parrish both of Valdosta, great-grandchildren Lance & Jessie Wortman of Quitman, Lauren Nelms of Moultrie, Zackary Moore of Lake Park and Carley Rose Parrish; her brother and sister-in-law, Alford "Junior" and Jean Brady of Valdosta; her sister, Vivian Anderson of Warner Robins; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Jean Brady of Valdosta. She will also be greatly missed by her closest friends Nell Shaw, Claryce Cook, Edith Courtney, and the members of her bible study group. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, B.F. "Frank" Parrish; her grandson, Jeremy Benjamin Moore; and a brother, John Brady; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Anderson.
Funeral services for Kathryn Parrish will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 11am at Abundant Life Church of God with Reverend Wayne Hughes officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers are being accepted, however since much of her life was devoted to the mission of the church, the family asks that those who feel so moved make a monetary donation to the Abundant Life Church of God Building fund, in Memory of Kathryn Parrish. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
